Local Authority/Council staff, Councillors, Planners, Engineers, Landscape Architects, Sustainability, Parks and Gardens staff, are invited to the 2024 All-Ireland Pollinator Plan conference to discuss how public land can be managed to support pollinators.
Nine years since it began, the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan has brought together different sectors across the island of Ireland with the aim of creating a landscape where pollinators can survive and thrive.
Local authorities have played a massive role in working towards this goal, leading extraordinary work to protect and enhance habitats that support pollinating insects, as well as bringing along communities with inspiring examples of public engagement. Unfortunately, pollinator numbers are still in decline. But where actions have been taken to help them, local populations are increasing.
This conference brings together people working with and within local authorities to share their experiences, success stories, and solutions to common challenges. Featuring talks by a range of speakers from within local authorities and other fields, this is a chance to network and knowledge-share with others working in local authorities to help biodiversity.
In response to common work strands and challenges faced by local authorities, the focus of the 2024 conference will be on meadow management and pesticide alternatives.
The 2024 conference has been organised in collaboration with South Dublin County Council.
